“There are only two problems in care”, everyLIFE Technologies
Social care is so often depicted as an industry dogged with countless, unsolvable issues.
Paul Barry, CEO and founder of everyLIFE Technologies, thinks differently.
Paul founded everyLIFE in 2014 based on his own experience of running six care businessesand for a very real need – to enable society to provide the highest quality of care in an efficient and sustainable manner through the use of technology.
In this workshop, Paul reveals what he believes to be the only two problems that currently exist in social care and how we should all be addressing them.

"Effectively managing the media”, The View
The care industry. It’s in the media every day, whether bad news or good. Well, actually, it’s very rarely, if ever good news. The media thrive on the negative. But how can you or your organisation harness and manage the media – and other key forms of communication to best effect?
This interactive workshop is in two parts: ‘Maximising the benefits of good news opportunities’ and ‘Mitigating the risks from potential bad news stories’. It will look at good, bad and ugly scenarios, drill down to the basics of great communication and arm you with a host of practical hints and tips for your homecare business, whether you’re a large nationwide organisation or a very small provider.
"A fresh approach to LGBT older living", Tonic Housing
The UK is currently the home of over 1,000,000 LGBT+ people over age 50. This workshop will be a collaboration designed to share knowledge and experiences between Tonic, as advocates for the older LGBT+ community, and workshop attendees as experts in homecare. Tonic will present research and anecdotes to encourage discussion and reciprocal learning about the varying needs of the LGBT+ community as they get older. We will also explore how care workers are currently responding to these specific needs and ways in which organisations like Tonic can encourage and support best practice in the future.
"Building partnerships - working well with family
and friends", Carers Trust and Hillingdon Carers
Paid care support workers are likely to come into regular contact with unpaid carers
(friends and family members) when supporting people with care needs.
Come and explore how your work to support people with care needs could benefit by
involving and engaging unpaid carers as expert partners in care.
You will learn about good practice within The Carers Trust Network, how you can work in partnership to support unpaid carers, explore some case studies to give you confidence with unpaid carers, and find out where you can signpost unpaid carers to get more support.
